Our Services

Learn more about our breeding philosophy and the steps we take to ensure a healthy and happy Mastador puppy.

Our Philosophy

We treat all of our dogs and puppies as pets as if we were keeping them for ourselves. All of our dogs are family pets first, and breeding dogs second. KlaraBelle and Zena sleep with us in bed, and the boys have beds in our room. They are never alone, or even left outside during the evening. They are never crated or tied, and always treated like a family member.

Our dogs are family pets first and breeding dogs second.

The puppies are whelped in our home, not in a kennel. They are handled daily. Puppies go outside at 4 weeks old when they start on solid food. They have a safe enclosure in our horse barn with a outside protected area 10' wide by 10' feet deep, a full outdoor space which they are let out daily (as weather permits) when we are there and attended by us. They have a heated igloo inside the stall in the winter that stays on all the time. They are exposed to sounds, smells, changing temperatures, and the adult dogs, all of which help them prepare for normal family life with you.

Vet Supervision

We work with a local veterinarian who gives our pups a complete examination at about 6 weeks. We do not allow the pups to be released for sale until they are eight weeks old. Studies have shown that staying with their mom the extra two weeks after they reach six weeks is important for both health and socialization.

We also use “WhelpWise”, which is a remote-vet service that allows us to have 24/7 access to veterinarians who understand the whelping process. We are provided with a Doppler heart monitor as well as a contraction monitor to help us monitor the puppies health the week prior to birth, and they are on standby to help us through the actual whelping process.

Your puppy is guaranteed to be healthy and up-to-date on shots and worming when you purchase with us, regardless of its age. You will receive a Health Record detailing the shots and worming schedule, and the puppy's diet at the time of sale.

Health Guarantee

We guarantee our pups to be free of life-threatening or life-shortening genetic defects up to three years from the whelping date, and guarantee hip and elbow soundness for 3 years as well. A diagnosis of moderate to severe hip dysplasia must be made by a licensed veterinary orthopaedist. Mild subluxation is relatively commonplace in large breeds, is easily manageable, and is not covered under this guarantee. This part of the guarantee is null and void if your dog has been spayed or neutered before 24 months of age.

If your puppy is found to have any life-threatening or life-shortening genetic defect, we will be happy to refund all of the purchase price of the puppy upon certification of spay/neuter (if over 24 months of age) and an affidavit stating that the dog has not been bred. The other alternative for refund is upon the return of the dog. Any genetic defect claims must be accompanied by test results from a licensed veterinarian or animal hospital, and only after our consultation with that vet.

Also included is a guarantee that your puppy is healthy when you take delivery. You must have the puppy vet-checked within 7 days of taking delivery. If your puppy is found to be sick with any of the major canine diseases that are vaccinated for, your money will be refunded, and you may keep the puppy or bring it back, as you wish. We will not reimburse any veterinarian bills incurred by the treatment of the sickness.

Genetic Testing

Our breeding dogs are all tested for over 169 genetic issues to insure compatibility and limit the chance of inherited problems showing up later in life. Hybid (cross-breed) dogs are generally much less less susceptible to the genetic problems of the foundation breeds, as their gene pool has been expanded and the hereditary problems diluted. But genetic testing will help make certain that problems are not carried forward and multiplied.

Chieftan Kane, KlaraBelle and Zena have all been genetically tested and 100% clear of all breed, and non-breed specific genetic mutations.

Lifetime Support

We offer lifetime support for every puppy that comes from McCullough Mastadors. That is most easily accomplished via Facebook, but we will deliver that support however it is needed.

We help with advice on diet and health issues, behavior, training and whatever else you might need, to the best of our ability, and will offer resources to answer your questions, and recommend products to address health and dietary questions.

Lifetime Rehoming Policy

We realize that there are times when circumstances force a family to give up their pets. We do not ever want one of our puppies or dogs to end up in a shelter, a dog pound, or just abandoned. If such an emergency arises, we will always help you to rehome your dog.

In addition, we microchip our puppies before they leave the farm and we are listed as an alternative contact, after the owner of course, as a means to get ahold of the breeder if the dog falls into a bad situation.

We require that you contact us first before re-homing your dog or puppy yourself. We have a large network of families on Facebook, and we will help you find a suitable home and family situation for your dog. We only want the best for our pups and feel very committed to life long support in a healthy and happy environment.
